I was a caregiver for my mother Betty. At a certain point, she lost her ability to use email or make a phone call. So I created a messaging app to help her reconnect with family and friends. That messaging app evolved into BettyBoard.ca.

BettyBoard provides a system for communicating with people who are not able to use traditional social media technologies. It allows you to maintain a supportive connection with someone in Long Term Care by sending personal messages and images directly from your cell phone to their television screen.

To support the visually impared, BettyBoard presents messages in large, high contrast fonts. Themed galleries of images display on a schedule to help a resident better monitor the passage of time. Personal photos from family and friends can be uploaded to create personalized galleries. Colour-coded screens are used to help a resident better understand and maintain their daily schedule.

BettyBoard was designed to send messages and pictures from your smart phone to the large screen of a resident's Smart TV, but any internet connected device (computer, tablet or cell phone) can be used for either sending or displaying messages and images. Please check out our demonstration, or register directly, at BettyBoard Registrtion.
